Bush roses like the Knock Out can be trimmed and thinned down to one third right now. By doing this, you will help promote nice new growth and produce some beautiful fall color, just in time for football season. Remember to prune just above the buds that face out from the center of the plant. If your plant is nice and dense, you may find that a pair of loppers works best to prevent you from being on the receiving end of those all too familiar thorns!
